Competition
This program provides an added dimension to any dance student’s training. Whether or not a student plans a career in dance, being a part of the competitive team provides an enduring thrill of performance. Each student is challenged by their choreographer to work for his/her personal best.
For students wishing to become involved for the first time, an information package is available in the office and an assessment of his/her skills is held at a later date. After this initial assessment, every effort is made to place each student in a group matching their age and ability. For students already involved in competition, “in class” assessments are held to evaluate the skill level of each dancer for appropriate placement by the instructors in the upcoming competitive season.
Choreography for group numbers takes place in the Fall on Friday evenings and on Saturdays. Once choreography is completed, a final schedule for rehearsals is drawn up, and students are required to attend every Friday night. Attendance at these rehearsals is mandatory and absenteeism may result in dismissal from a group.
It is important for both parents and students to recognize that this is a commitment to a team. Each group will perform to its very best, but only if each team member is present at all rehearsals.Photo Gallery
